RC73 remote not working | AT&T Community Forums

Fri, Mar 9, 2018 10:08 PM

I have tried everything that has been mentioned on these help sites.

i get so far then get a message TV keys aren’t programmed.

When I select option PROGRAM REMOTE

It says hold Mute And Enter at the same time. No success

we just put fresh batteries in remote and have strong green light on remote.

The remote does change channels.

The remote does NOT turn on/off tv and does NOT control volume.

also tried resetting the red button on the receiver.

It is possible that your receiver is already in RF mode. That is what you are trying to do when you hold the Mute and Enter buttons. If you press the menu button and go to settings, and then go to remote control, and then Program remote, does it give you the options to program your TV? If so, then you are already in RF mode and you can program for the TV.

You may try to set your remote to RF mode again as follows :

On the remote, press and hold the MUTE and ENTER simultaneously while pointing the remote at the receiver.

When pairing is successful, the following screen message appears: “Your remote is now set up for RF”

Make sure you are holding the ENTER button in the lower right corner, not the select button in the middle of the remote..

Doesn’t work. I got stopped by a message ……

There was a problem setting your remote to work with your receiver, try

again or SELECT

“RF SETUP” for instructions.

When I go to the instructions it’s back to mute and enter again. I have

tried this entire cycle multiple times with no success.

What now?

When I went into settings I found the remote was in the IR mode. I had the option to change it to RF.

SO….I chose the option RF and when I backed out of the menu Nd tried to turn off the TV through

the remote this message came up……

TV keys aren’t programmed and so on

remote still has no on/off or volume control

the guide works and changing channels works
